Fremont, CA: Eating cholesterol is not harmful, but it is often misunderstood that certain cholesterol foods like eggs and full-fat yogurt can benefit your overall health. The others, such as processed meat and junk, may increase the chance of reducing healthy life.
EGG Eggs are one of the wealthiest nutrient foods anyone can consume; they are rich in protein. However, they also happen to have high cholesterol. One egg contains 207 milligrams of cholesterol, which can boost lipoprotein, which means good cholesterol. Research states that eating more than one egg is safe, but if the consumption of the egg is increased, it may have a chance to produce low-density lipoprotein, which means terrible cholesterol. CHEESE A slice of cheese produces 20mg of cholesterol but is rich in calcium and other minerals. Qualitative research on 136 people found that eating 80 grams of cheese daily doesn’t produce low-density lipoprotein, though it is a high intake. SHELLFISH Shellfish includes all seafood besides fish, which contains high protein, B vitamins, iron and selenium. An 85-gram can of canned shrimp contains 215mg of cholesterol; however, research suggests that people who eat more seafood may experience good cardiovascular health. PASTURE-RAISED STEAK The beef steak that comes from 100% non-grass-fed cattle is called Pasture steak; it has a better nutrition profile than grain-fed beef, and significantly, it contains more omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, vitamin B, and conjugated linoleic acid. These nutrients reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. SARDINES This tiny Sardine fish contains loads of nutrients and a convenient amount of protein. A serving of 92g has 131mg of cholesterol, along with other daily value vitamins. FULL-FAT YOGURT One cup of full-fat yogurt contains 31.8 g of cholesterol and other essential nutrients. Research suggests that a high intake of full-fat fermented yogurt reduces blood pressure and the risk of stroke. FRIED FOODS Deep-fried meats and cheese are high in cholesterol, which is detrimental to the heart in many ways. FAST FOOD A person who has a habit of consuming fast food now then is highly predicted to be affected by chronic heart diseases, diabetes and obesity. PROCESSED MEAT Processed meats, such as sausages, bacon, and hot dogs, are high in cholesterol, so they should be consumed in moderation. A comprehensive review involving over 614,000 participants found that each additional 2-oz (50-g) serving of processed meat per day was associated with a 42% higher risk of heart disease. DESSERTS Cookies, cakes, ice cream, pastries, and other sweets are often rich in cholesterol, added sugars, unhealthy fats, and calories. Studies have linked high intake of added sugar to conditions such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cognitive decline, and certain cancers. Furthermore, these foods tend to lack essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, protein, and healthy fats that your body needs to thrive.
