At GPS Psychology & Anxiety Clinic, the phrase “Meet you where you are, guide you where you hope to be” is more than a tagline—it’s a mission that drives the organization’s unique approach to care.
Under the leadership of Dr. Daniel Gibson, PsyD, MSCP, MA, MSW, the clinic has carved a distinctive niche in the mental health landscape by seamlessly merging traditional medicine with innovative, science-backed practices. Through its adaptive application of the biopsychosocial model, GPS Psychology & Anxiety Clinic aims to revolutionize mental health services by offering comprehensive, patient-centered care.
We guide patients to understand their unique conditions, teaching them how thoughts, behaviors, and biology interact so they can recognize their power in this process
“The result,” Dr. Gibson explains, “is healthcare that too often addresses symptoms piecemeal rather than considering the complete picture. This traditional approach fails many patients suffering from complex interplays of mental, biological, and environmental issues. We aim to rectify this by embodying a ‘medical home’ model of care—but with a revolutionary twist.”
GPS Psychology & Anxiety Clinic ensures that patients receive thorough evaluations that account for biological, psychological, and environmental factors. The clinic goes beyond standard diagnostic tools, utilizing specialized lab panels, neurofeedback, QEEG assessments, and cutting-edge interventions to achieve a depth of understanding rarely seen in mental health services.
For example, its application of baseline QEEG assessment examines a patient’s brain activity to establish a foundation for understanding the neurological factors behind symptoms. These advanced measures, combined with extensive neuropsychological evaluations and cutting-edge lab tests, help build a complete picture of the patient’s health. More than just treating immediate symptoms, the clinic focuses on uncovering root causes.
“What sets us apart is how comprehensive and adaptive our assessments are,” Dr. Gibson explains. “We won’t settle for narrow measures or limited options. Instead, we explore the full spectrum of health variables. For example, we incorporate innovative lab tests you might find at a naturopathic clinic and merge them with traditional medical methodologies. Patients are given a range of options, not just one or two.”
A Wide Array of Treatment Modalities
GPS Psychology & Anxiety Clinic’s holistic approach is complemented by a diverse range of treatment modalities, from well-established therapies—such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure therapy—to groundbreaking innovations like IASIS Transcranial Microcurrent Neurofeedback.
Unlike more intensive treatments such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), which requires daily, hour-long sessions over several weeks, microcurrent neurofeedback offers similar efficacy with less time commitment and fewer side effects. This tool allows individuals struggling with conditions ranging from severe OCD to neurodevelopmental challenges to experience relief in as little as 15-minute sessions.

A key element of GPS Psychology & Anxiety Clinic’s success is its deep commitment to educating and empowering patients. As Dr. Gibson explains, true transformation occurs when patients become active participants in their own care.
“Medicine doesn’t change the way someone thinks or feels—it gives the body and brain the tools to make it a fair fight,” he says. “We guide patients in understanding their unique conditions, teaching them how thoughts, behaviors, and biology interact so they can recognize their power in this process.”
Redefining Mental Health Services
GPS Psychology & Anxiety Clinic’s philosophy is evident in its tailored treatment plans. Dr. Gibson shares the story of a young man grappling with severe OCD, whose symptoms had dominated his life despite years of traditional therapy, psychiatric intervention, and nutrition/naturopathic remidies. The clinic started with foundational education about his condition, helping him understand that his intrusive thoughts were not a reflection of who he was but rather the result of maladaptive brain patterns.
Dr. Gibson noticed the severity of his presentation and his unique symptoms warranted a modification in medicine to allow him to engage in exposure therapy. Dr. Gibson consulted with the patient’s psychiatrist and requested he introduce a very low dose of a neuroleptic, which enhanced the patient’s ability to engage in exposure therapy. Within weeks, he began reclaiming his life—and years later, he continues to thrive.
Another notable case involves a veteran suffering from PTSD. Traditional therapies had provided only partial relief, but through GPS Psychology’s combined use of CBT, exposure therapy, biofeedback training, and microcurrent neurofeedback, he achieved remarkable progress. He reports reaching extinction of an anxiety response with his past intrusive thoughts and flashbacks, finding joy and stability in his life once again.
While success stories like these are inspiring, Dr. Gibson is clear that the clinic’s mission extends beyond individual cases. His ambition is to redefine the very framework of mental health services.
Breaking New Ground
This commitment is evident in GPS Psychology & Anxiety Clinic’s future plans. Dr. Gibson seeks out providers, interns, and staff who share his values in delivering care. Rather than defining specific specialties and hiring based on them, he encourages his team to explore holistic care approaches and discover the populations they are most passionate about, leading to the development of new services.
One such evolution is the launch of a specialized neurodevelopmental assessment and intervention center, where Dr. Gibson will help oversee operations. This center aims to revolutionize assessment and treatment for individuals on the autism spectrum and those with other neurodevelopmental conditions. It will integrate comprehensive biological evaluations, QEEGs, and cutting-edge treatment modalities such as Brain Gauge, biofeedback, Virtual Reality attention training, neurofeedback, Microcurrent Neurofeedback, and parent training. Regular reassessments using QEEGs and Brain Gauge will ensure interventions remain effective and tailored to each individual’s needs.
“We’re excited to offer these services because neurodevelopmental issues often require targeted, specialized care,” Dr. Gibson shares. “Collaborating with parents and community organizations will be key to making lasting impacts.”
Another area of growth for the clinic is its Behavioral Health Consulting division, which follows a primary care model for mental health. This initiative is designed for patients who need quick access to mental health tools without the long-term commitment associated with specialty care. The division offers shorter appointments focused on providing targeted interventions for managing stress, headaches, or anxiety. The goal is to create a streamlined care process that reduces barriers to mental health services while easing the burden on specialty providers.
Additionally, GPS Psychology & Anxiety Clinic is pioneering the integration of AI-driven healthcare systems with the assistance of one of their newest team members, Dr. Ali Khan, who has decades of experience in technology development and management. These systems will help create standardized algorithms for assessing treatments, tracking outcomes, and refining care plans. By analyzing vast amounts of patient data, AI will enhance the clinic’s ability to deliver consistent, evidence-based care while also enabling groundbreaking research into treatment efficacy.
Collaboration is Key
Collaboration has always been a cornerstone of GPS Psychology & Anxiety Clinic’s approach, and this extends to its plans for workforce development. The clinic is establishing an APA doctoral-level internship program to bring pre-doctoral interns from across the country and also master level interns in partnership with local universities, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in integrated, evidence-based care and also GPS to further find and train.
Dr. Gibson envisions this initiative as an opportunity not only to train future providers but also to contribute to the advancement of mental healthcare as a whole.
His journey to founding GPS Psychology is as much a part of the clinic’s story as its services. Dr. Gibson’s career began in social work, where he worked with individuals facing severe life challenges, from trauma to developmental disorders. Early on, he noticed how disjointed the healthcare system could be, with professionals in different specialties often working at odds with each other. This realization inspired him to seek out innovative, collaborative models of care.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gibson pursued opportunities that aligned with his vision for integrated care, from community-based rehabilitation roles to leadership positions in pilot healthcare programs like the Patient-Centered Medical Home initiative at Joint Base Andrews and Pentagon/Defense Health Headquarters. Each step reinforced his belief that healthcare should address the whole person, not just isolated symptoms and providers should be held accountable to ensure best care is being offered.
“One of my inspirations was witnessing how pioneers in neuropsychology and medical psychology approached care,” Dr. Gibson recalls. “Experts like Dr. Gail, who understood how early trauma could impair organ functions like the liver and produce hormone changes and symptoms that won’t be picked up with traditional labs; which further, showed me the value of integrating disciplines. That’s the philosophy I’ve tried to embody.”
Innovation Meets Compassion
As GPS Psychology & Anxiety Clinic continues to expand, its mission remains clear: to guide patients toward healing while equipping them with the tools needed to navigate their mental health challenges.
Beyond expanding services for children and families, the clinic is exploring partnerships with schools, workplaces, and healthcare institutions to promote community-wide mental health awareness.
At GPS Psychology & Anxiety Clinic, innovation is seamlessly integrated with compassion. Under the leadership of Dr. Gibson and his dedicated team, the clinic represents a brighter future for individuals and families facing mental health struggles.
It stands as a testament to the transformative power of a comprehensive, patient-centered approach—one that doesn’t just treat symptoms but empowers individuals to lead fulfilling lives.
