In a field where both precision and empathy are essential, Min Kyeong Kim stands out as a clinician who delivers both in equal measure. As an audiologist at Stanford Health Care, Dr. Kim brings a rare blend of technical mastery, cultural fluency and patient-centered compassion to her practice. Fluent in Korean and conversational in Chinese, she treats hearing loss while ensuring every patient feels heard and understood.
Since joining Stanford in December 2023, Dr. Kim has focused on making audiologic care more inclusive, accessible and impactful. Drawing on her extensive training and diverse clinical experiences, she addresses each patient’s unique needs with thoughtful, individualized care. From advanced diagnostic testing to cochlear implant management, her work reflects a deep commitment to improving lives through better hearing.
A Career Built on Clinical Excellence and Advocacy
Dr. Kim’s journey in audiology is rooted in a deep academic foundation. She earned her Doctor of Audiology and Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Iowa, home to one of the most highly regarded audiology programs in the U.S. Her education was marked by clinical excellence as well as leadership and teaching roles that helped shape her into a multifaceted practitioner. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Communication Sciences and Psychology departments, she developed and delivered course content, mentored students and adapted instructional methods to meet evolving challenges, particularly during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her clinical training includes a yearlong externship at UCSF Health, where she worked with adult and pediatric populations in one of the country’s leading academic medical centers. She performed comprehensive audiologic evaluations, vestibular assessments and tinnitus counseling there. She was also involved in hearing aid fittings, cochlear implant activation and mapping and managing complex auditory conditions, including Single Sided Deafness (SSD) and Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder (ANSD). Her work across different age groups has made her especially attuned to how hearing loss affects people across the lifespan.
Making Hearing Care a Human Experience
What distinguishes Dr. Kim is her holistic approach to care. She sees audiology not only as a medical science, but also as a form of service—one that demands cultural competence and emotional intelligence. Her fluency in Korean and proficiency in Chinese allow her to provide linguistically accessible care, especially to patients from immigrant and underserved communities. Whether explaining test results, fitting a hearing aid, or offering tinnitus counseling, Dr. Kim prioritizes clarity, empathy and trust.
Her commitment to community outreach further illustrates her dedication to making hearing healthcare accessible. During her time at the University of Iowa, she served in leadership roles for several organizations, including the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA), the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA), UI Sound Awareness for Everyone (UISAFE) and the Korean Undergraduate/Graduate Students Association (KUSA). Through these platforms, she organized hearing screenings at preschools, led bilingual educational sessions for Korean American communities and raised thousands of dollars to help patients afford hearing aids and audiologic services.
At Stanford Health Care, Dr. Kim continues to integrate her technical skills and advocacy background into every aspect of her role. Her clinical scope includes behavioral audiometry, realear verification, (BI)CROS fittings, vestibular evaluations like vHIT and VNG and advanced cochlear implant programming. Each procedure is guided by the same principle: to meet patients.
In a time when healthcare can often feel impersonal, Dr. Min Kyeong Kim offers a refreshing model of care—one that values expertise as much as empathy and precision as much as connection. Her work not only restores hearing; it restores agency, dignity and quality of life for every patient she serves.
